Sisterhood.

In addition to reaching out to the community, we pride ourselves on our strong bonds of sisterhood. Kappa Phi Lambda is more than a just an organization, it is a lifetime support system—a sisterhood. Our sisters build lasting relationships within our own chapters and at schools all across the country. Not only do we have valuable support from our alumni, but our sisters provide unconditional support to others. Through the good and the bad, our sisters are always willing to lend a hand. Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority is something we hope that each sister can refer to as a "home away from home."

Service.

We are an organization which prides itself on its sense of commitment to cultural diversity and strong bonds of sisterhood. However, our other primary focus is to offer our service to the community. Community and culture is largely what has made us the strong and independent women we are today. It is for these reasons that we want to reciprocate and give back to the communities around us. Sisters participate in individual community service events of their choice, as well as those which we support as a whole and unified organization. Each respective school has also designated at least one local non-profit organization as their philanthropic cause.

Cultural Diversity.

Kappa Phi Lambda strives to emphasize the importance of cultural diversity -- not only within our own organization, but also to the universities at which we exist, and outside the community. While we do classify ourselves as a Pan-Asian interest sorority, by no means do we limit membership to those of only Asian descent. We have sisters from very diverse backgrounds, including Venezuelan, German, French, Korean, Chinese, Latino, Thai, Filipino, Indonesian, and Japanese. Diversity is what helps broaden the horizons of thinking. Through various workshops and events, Kappa Phi Lambda continuously tries to educate our members, schools, and communities about Asian culture.

About Xi Chapter

The Xi Chapter of the Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. was founded at Northeastern University in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts on June 15, 2002. Since then, we have grown and flourished within and beyond our community at NEU. The Sisters of Xi Chapter proudly uphold the ideals and values of the Sorority, as we partake regularly in planning and attending events to promote Cultural Diversity, participate in Community Service, and strengthen our bonds of Sisterhood.

Kappa Phi Lambda’s Xi Chapter is proud to be a member organization of Northeastern’s Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), and a founding member organization of the Pan-Asian American Council (PAAC). We strive to constantly support and engage with our fellow PAAC and MGC member organizations through joint events and meetings throughout each semester.

One of our goals as an organization is to always give back to our community and raise awareness for issues we care about. The Xi Chapter participates in a wide variety of community service activities every year, from collecting recyclables at Boston Red Sox games, volunteering at charity walks/runs, and participating in Northeastern’s annual Relay for Life. We host philanthropic events every semester to raise funds and awareness for both KPL’s national philanthropy, CARE, and our Chapter’s local philanthropy, the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK).
